Salad Bar Luncheon & Annual Meeting – May 2

WWC’s Board of Directors will be providing a tasty salad bar luncheon in the clubhouse on Thursday, May 2, at noon. After lunch the directors and committee chairs will give their annual report to club members. This is your club, don’t miss the important updates that will be shared at this meeting. This is a member only gathering.

Finally, the board would welcome a $10 donation, if you are able, to help with the cost of the luncheon.

Shrek, The Musical – May 5

Join your friends for a fun afternoon at the theater, as we enjoy the Tosa East Players performing Shrek the Musical at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. Gather at the WWC Clubhouse at 1 p.m. for wine and cheese prior to the show. Deadline for reservations is April 26. Cost $15 per person, click HERE to register online. Spring Plant Sale

Get ready for the spring planting season with beautiful and healthy pots, planters and flats from the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club annual plant sale. This fundraiser benefits both WWC and Heyden’s Greenhouse, a small, woman-owned business. Place your order no later than Friday, May 10, and you plants will be ready for pickup at the WWC on Friday, May 17 from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Click HERE to order your plants online!

Spring Fashion Show – SOLD OUT

The WWC’s Spring Fashion Show will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Social hour begins at 5:30pm, with wine, appetizers, raffles and silent auction. Dinner served by Lisa Kay Catering at 6:30 pm. This year’s show, Walking On Sunshine, features beautiful spring fashions from Robin’s Nest in Menomonee Falls. A live auction will be held between fashion show sets.

May Luncheon at the Wisconsin Club – May 16

Join your WWC friends for a wonderful celebration of this year’s activities and accomplishments at the May Luncheon (formerly the May Breakfast) at the lovely Wisconsin Club in downtown Milwaukee. Social hour and lunch will be followed by the installation of the new WWC Board of Directors.

Calling All Ukulele Players

Do you have a ukulele? Would you like to play it with like-minded friends? Bring your ukulele to the Wauwatosa Woman’s Club and let’s play our ukuleles together. We’ll generally meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. Doors open at 6 p.m., and we’ll play from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Bring a friend!

Ukulele FAQs

Do I have to have experience playing the ukulele? No, you simply need a ukulele and an interest in playing. We have a mix of new players and experienced players. All are welcome. Many of us played as part of Tosa Recreation classes, and some are current WWC members with an interest in jamming together.
What music will we use? We are using Jim Behoff’s The Daily Ukulele 365 Songs for Better Living (“Yellow Uke Book”) in hard copy or the Kindle version. You can purchase the Yellow Uke Book on Amazon.
What if I do not have a copy of the Yellow Uke Book? Please come anyway. You can look over someone’s shoulder or share their music stand. You can decide if it is worth buying your own copy.
What if I did not attend an intro session or cannot attend every session? You are welcome to join us any time. Friends of Club members are welcome too.
When does the ukulele group meet? We meet the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. (Next meeting: March 27).
What should I bring? Bring a ukulele and your Yellow Book (if you have it). You can bring a music stand or simply use the table.
Do I have to know how to sing or read music? No. Many players sing along. Not all players know how to read music. We often focus on chords.
Do I need to practice the songs ahead of time? Most people just come and play without practicing the specific songs ahead of time. If you’d like to practice, we’ll send out a list of songs we’ll be playing before each meeting.
I used to play the ukulele as a child and I am curious about buying one. Any recommendations? Borrow a friend’s ukulele and come to one of our sessions. Beginners can expect to pay anywhere between $50 to $200 for a good, playable ukulele. The group will give you ideas about where to get a ukulele and what type might be best for you.
Why should I join? Because it is fun and playing together brings joy. We need more joy.
Does the group have a formal catchy name? No. Ideas are welcome!

Join in some great “reads” and conversation at either our Daytime Book Club or our Evening Book Club! The Book Clubs are held on the 4th Monday of the month at the WWC. Daytime Club begins at 1 p.m. and Evening Club at 6:30 p.m. The same book will be discussed at each meeting.

Pill Vial Collection for Bread of Healing Clinic

We’re collecting pill vials for the Bread of Healing Clinic. Empty pill vials with the labels removed can be drop off in the container found by the elevator in the club, or they can be dropped through the club’s mail slot. You are recycling your bottles – and saving the clinic money. Winners all!
